Painting is complete! Mike did a wonderful job painting our baby girl's room! Painting took a while to complete and he worked so hard on making sure it looked great. I love the two tone walls.
Well today we (or as I should say I, Mike wanted nothing to do with this project of mine) accomplished another nursery task, the chair rail! I've always loved the look a chair rail gives a room so I knew I wanted to add one in the nursery. Mike had his reservations, one being this is a home we rent, but I didn't care. I hate not adding decorative features just because it's not "my" home.
So I had researched for weeks on buying/installing the chair rail and everything I read said how easy it is to do on your own. With my measurements in hand, Mike and I made a trip to Lowe's and purchased the amount of chair rail we needed. Unfortunately, they only made straight cuts so we were going to have to angle the rails for the wall corners on our own...no problem, right? Wrong! The first two rails I put up ended up having a big gap at the corner even after I made sure to cut the rails at 45 degree angles. I became frustrated and left the project for a couple of days. Mike tried with no luck. So I came back to the project with the mindset of just wanting to get it finished. All the corners I cut ended up with small gaps. I thought they said this was supposed to be easy! I filled in the corners with caulk and today I painted the rails. As annoying as the project became, I'm happy with the outcome considering this was the first time I've ever installed a chair rail! I love the feel it adds to the room!
